Cambodia: Ex-Khmer Rouge leader loses genocide appeal



A UN-backed war crimes tribunal has rejected an appeal by the last surviving leader of the Khmer Rouge armed group. The court in Cambodia has upheld the genocide conviction and life sentence handed to 91 year-old Khieu Samphan in 2018. He was head of state during the rule of the Khmer Rouge, when two million people were killed. Al Jazeera’s Florence Looi reports.
