Hong Kong: Deadline to remove Tiananmen memorial from HKU passes

A campaign is under way to preserve a memorial at Hong Kong University (HKU) that marks China's violent crackdown in Tiananmen Square. The Pillar of Shame statue has stood in Hong Kong for 24 years and students clean it as part of anniversary events marking crackdown. A deadline to remove the artwork passed on Wednesday – but so far, the authorities have not attempted to remove or destroy it.
