‘I expect ceasefire motion to pass’ in Scottish Parliament: Humza Yousaf

The Scottish Parliament is due to debate a motion in support of UN calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and the creation of safe routes for medical aid and displaced people. In an interview with Al Jazeera, the Scottish first minister said he had been calling for a ceasefire in the besieged coastal enclave for weeks. “I expect the Scottish Parliament to vote overwhelmingly for a motion calling for an immediate ceasefire, but we must also address the real reasons for this [conflict], which is that the Palestinians were promised a state but this promise was reneged on,” Yousaf said. “There has to be a recognition of the State of Palestine so the two-state solution can be realised,” he added.
