3 tonnes of cocaine seized by Senegal’s military from a ship moored off the coast of Dakar
Senegal's military has seized nearly three tonnes of cocaine from a ship located 150 kilometers off the coast of Dakar, marking one of the largest drug busts in the country. At the time of interception, the ship had 10 crew members on board. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime notes that West and Central Africa are becoming regions of high drug consumption, with at least 57 tonnes of cocaine seized in West Africa between 2019 and 2022.
