Derek Chauvin sentenced to 22.5 years for George Floyd murder
Former US police officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison for murdering George Floyd. The judge said Chauvin inflicted “particular cruelty” on Floyd before his death in May last year. Video of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck for nine and a half minutes in May sparked worldwide protests against racism and police brutality.
