NATO begins annual nuclear drills amid tensions with Russia over Ukraine war

Air forces from across NATO are taking part in the alliance's annual nuclear exercise. The drills involve 14 countries and up to 60 aircraft. They will conduct training flights over Belgium, that is hosting the exercise, and over as well as the North Sea and the UK. Menawhile, Russia is holding its own annual nuclear drills, which usually take place in late October. The alliance stressed, however, that the drills are a "routine, recurring training activity" that had been planned before Russia invaded Ukraine. A NATO press release stated that the drills are "not linked to any current world events." Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butlers reports from Paris.
