TikTok legislation: US bill demands Chinese-owned TikTok be sold
The US House of Representatives has approved a bill that would force TikTok's Chinese owners to sell the app. It calls for the parent company, ByteDance, to offload its shares within six months. Supporters say Chinese ownership poses a national security risk – but TikTok denies ties with the government in Beijing. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew has responded to the vote, urging users to help keep the service running in the US.
