American forces have come under attack in eastern Syria, a day after the US launched air raids targeting Iran-backed militias US President Joe Biden has defended his decision to order the attacks. The United States had attacked the Popular Mobilisation Forces, an umbrella group of Iran-backed fighters. Now, the PMF are promising retaliation.
